The Royal Monceau truly deserves its award as the “Best breakfast in Europe”, from Pierre Hermé gluten free bakes to a superfoods counter of fresh juices complete with chia seeds, raw cacao, spirulina to freshly baked PH canelés and organic fresh eggs. It’s the kind of breakfast that fills you up for a full day of walking off the calories for dinner (at 50€ per person no less), but unfortunately for me, a French husband back in France is making the best of every single meal – which means over eating because, well, he’s back in the Motherland only once a year.
Gluten free in France is like an oxymoron – apart from the supermarket shelves. But increasingly, one has a little more option. I cheat anyway despite medical reports of my intolerance and physical discomfort. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
Finding gluten free bakes in France, in Paris is like winning the lottery, and a Pierre Hermé gluten free cake, that’s winning the double lottery! All worth every calorie.
Mostly Philippe Starck utensils, one of my favourite series with the fish and lips, the reflection of the dish is inverse upright image on the cup
And the feature art piece reminds me of the Christmas tree we commissioned at The Opposite House years ago.
Right after you’ve stuffed your face with all the deliciousness, walk it all off to touristy spots like the Arc deTriomphe or head over to Du Louvre. We’d definitely love to stay the next year, rather than just have breakfast!
