Bing Tang Hu Lu is the ubiquitous Beijing winter candy snack—really just caramelised fruits on a stick that adds a dash of colour to the winterscape. The most commonly found are the Chinese Hawthorne fruit, something I never discovered till I came to China. In Singapore, the primary school tuckshop used to sell the haw flakes candy, which I discovered only recently comes from this fruit!
My favourite is the candied strawberries. A piece of advice though, don’t go for the corn.
