Macau Weekend Bites: Hayyo Kitchen

First time I had dried version of dan dan mian and have to admit I was quite disappointed. My mouth was watering thinking about the spicy tongue numbing chilli oil gravy and uber tasty.


We recently checked out Hayyo Kitchen, right round the corner from where we live. This place does good pasta with a tad of Asian flavour, kind of like the pasta my mother makes—tasty, homely and somewhat Asian.

I would recommend going with the salads rather than venture out to order escargots like we did. It turned out dry, flavourless and a little too hard.

My very creamy Spaghetti Carbonara, although far from authentic (my Italian friends would freak out) with the generous amount of cream was done al dente, sauce the right side of rich, fatty and savoury.

Chef went with the creamy mushroom “rougie” foie gras pasta that was very heavy, but oh so yum.
Happy to report their chocolate fondant is worth the calories and good enough to satisfy a craving.
