Eating Out: Broadway Market London

I’ve been to London a dozen of times, but never made it to Broadway market and was so pleased to visit with the Chowtzer foodie crew this time. I’ve been several times to Borough market, so Broadway was a refreshing new visit with the world’s best food bloggers – Chowtzer’s ambassadors in their own city. Here are some highlights.

I had an insignificant bowl of Pho, whose “rich broth over simmered over 8 hours” that was bland and uneventful. Tip: skip the Asian food booths apart from the pork belly bun (featured below) and dive straight into the roasts, burgers and baked goods.

And here’s our chowdown of Lucky Chip’s burger, featuring Jakarta expert Stanislaus Hans, Philly food blogging team Brad and Kristy and Tuba from Istanbul.

Other highlights include this Taiwanese style braised pork belly buns – differently prepared and marinated from my mum’s Singaporean style recipe (where there’s a star anise and garlic kick), this one is sweeter and its flavours more subtle, with ground peanuts sprinkled over, served with corriander sprigs. Deliciously light and satisfying.

Quiches and pies, more than you can navigate through. The quiches look better than they taste and have an odd texture, neither short crust nor flakey pastry dough. It was odd.

Gluten free options are still slim, but there are delicious baked foods worth the calories.. and much more worth the gluten cheat.
