I have been meaning to dine at the IFT Educational Restaurant for a while and finally got down to it. IFT is the vocational training school to prepare Macau students for the world of hospitality and a career in the culinary arts. I’m an adjunct lecturer there, but haven’t been involved in their cooking training and have to say I’m so impressed with the food!
Most people associate Macanese food to pork chop buns and egg tarts, they couldn’t be further away from the truth. Here are two typical Macanese dishes – Minchi minced beef and pork cooked in three types of soy sauce, some recipes include Worchester sauce served with deep fried diced potatoes and a sunny side up egg. This wonderfully simple dish goes great with a bowl of steaming white rice.
