I have been collaborating with GPSMyCity app for a year and it’s great! They map out content and resource on destinations to make it easy for those on the move without data roaming, but still get guided maps on each destination point.
There plenty of apps out there and serve different purposes but I found this one particularly useful as some roaming data plans are so ridiculously expensive and I am found helpless with the benefits of a GPS map to get to places on my must-see list. For a small one-off fee you get that all on your phone before you head off to places without a data plan.
So, what is a travel article app & what are the benefits?
Every GPS-guided travel article has GPS coordinates embedded in the article and a map of the route the destinations that is described in the article. GPSmyCity continues to grow curated, insightful and useful content, with over 1000 worldwide cities currently listed.
I’m done with screen grabbing and trying to manually map out routes to save them and then get lost midway without internet – this app solves all of it! I’ve always believed that walking/bicycling through a city is the best way to experience it and while it’s lovely to stumble upon new things, it’s also nice to reap the rewards of someone who has done the legwork and be guided effortlessly with GPS to your next stops!
1. One off small fee ($1.99) to download/upgrade this app. On the road, you will not need any roaming data/internet to use the article as a guide. The built in GPS will be “live” and show you how to get to all the locations mentioned in the article.
2. Instead of googling and spending alot of time trawling the web for lists of things to see/eat/do, GPSMyCity curates the best itineraries, so perfect if you don’t have much time or patience trying to figure out what works best.
3. Once you’ve paid $1.99 you can curate your own travel list with the travel articles free of charge and read at leisure anytime, anywhere and on airplane mode en route to your destination!
I was back in Singapore for a sabbatical and did plenty exploring. One of my favourite stories “Singapore’s Traditional Heritage Food Trail” is now available free for download from today Dec 4 for users to upgrade the app for FREE.
If you’re in Macao/south china, here’s how to navigate the furniture shops and carpenter workshops in Zhuhai and Zhongshan
