I love this series. At first these figures seemed spooky and scared me in the night, but they made me laugh in the day time. So quintessentially Chinese, middle aged men with pot bellies hanging out, posing with absolute self confidence. The only thing missing in this fibre glass series is a glass of baijiu in hand.

The mood is one of pessimism, in search of escapism as the artist attempts to unfold the complexities of the human condition in today’s New China.”
