Macau Weekends

Macau weekends have been the way of life. I spent most of my weekends commuting to Macau, and live a nomadic life of working in Hong Kong during the week and then getting on the ferry afterwork to Macau.

After spending the day catching up with the blog and watching a documentary on wayang kulit, I went for a wander and wanted to grab a bite at my favourite pork chop noodle cafePui Kee in Taipa Village. It was closed so I ventured further to find the only cafe opened at 5pm 中心咖啡美食 Zhong xin Ka Fei Mei Shi, not a very creative name which translates to Centre, coffee, food, but they have nice shrimp wanton noodles served in a soya sauce base. As always, I order a cup of hot traditional milk tea, a cha chaan teng‘s pièce de résistance. :)

I grew up eating lots of local confectionary breads and kuih kuih (malay name for cakes) and the sweet smells of traditional bakeries always make me nostalgic. The flour egg cake from the traditional cafe/bakery downstairs from where we live in Old Taipa Village is quite comforting. And I just love those old tiled floors and traditional cha chaan teng ambience.
