We came to Dijon to eat and visit vineyards as well as see friends in the area. Our local Burgundy friends took us to a lovely brasserie in Beaune for lunch Bistro du Bord de l’eau. It is also attached to a 1* Michelin gourmet restaurant, and I suppose dinner would be a lovely option too, but on a two week trip, we chalked up 10 Michelin starred meals and there is only so much gourmet you can have for breakfast, lunch and dinner!
Beautiful outdoor terrace dining as the name of the bistro suggests, it was by the water with ducks swimming past and birds and bees all around. Simple, good food, perhaps just don’t order the fish, it’s too many bones to get through. And of course enjoy all the local Burgundy wines without breaking the bank.

Started with half a dozen escargots and then a fillet of local fish on a bed of gnocchi swimming in a rich cream sauce. Apart from too many bones and taking the pleasure away from eating, everything else was perfect.

Order of duck was perfect, no complaints there
