We stayed at Suvretta House earlier this year in January for the St Moritz Gourmet Festival that takes place every winter, and concluded with a fabulous party at Badrutt Palace. Straight out of a Wes Anderson film set, the Suvretta House is a stunning hotel stepped in history set in a magical winter wonderland-scape.

St Moritz is a curious little place that pretty much comes alive for two seasons – the winter and the summer. It’s also the city where the first electric lamp came on in Switzerland.

The city is a playground for the rich and famous and exudes old world luxury in the hospitality industry and the perfect backdrop for Wes Anderson movie sets. Although we were here before we had kids, there were plenty of families with young children taking ski lessons on the slopes and running around the property.

We’re definitely heading back with our kiddo in tow the next time and maybe he can take some ski lessons while I have time to enjoy a book over a glass of wine!

I love Europe in the winter despite how my body was made for tropical weather. I love how when a place is blanketed in snow, it’s so quiet and magical. I loved everything about Suvretta House, especially being picked up in the ex-miliary bus converted into the hotel’s pick up.

We were in St Moritz for the annual Gourmet Festival that takes place every January. It’s a skiing hotspot for the rich and famous over the winter holidays.

I’ve tried taking ski classes in Slovakia in 2005 and I concluded that I am hopeless moving in the snow, in addition to my poor sense of balance, I take the glüwein and reading a book by the fireplace any day over the slopes.
