Wine or Beer?

El Bulli’s Ferran Adrià has come up with a funny new creation, the Estrella Damm Inedit—a beer that wants to be a wine.

I love the brilliant concepts involved in molecular gastronomy, but I have to admit that I’m old fashioned in my dining habits. I really just want dinner, not the theatre of it. Still, I am constantly in awe of the amazing creations that chefs come up with, right down to the root of the concept.

So, what exactly is this beer/wine hybrid? Perhaps about time for a beer/food pairing.

“Estrella Damm’s Inedit is a ‘unique coupage of barley malt and wheat with hop, coriander, orange peel, liquorice, yeast and water’ that undergoes a second fermentation after bottling. Cloudy, fruity, creamy and delicate, Inedit should be kept in a wine cooler and served in a white wine glass, no more than half full, of course.
