We have many friends living on Lamma Island and the pace of life is much slower, surrounded by nature and the beach. I definitely recommend visiting Lamma Island when you’re in Hong Kong. Head over for an easy hike over to the beach, enjoy fresh seafood and sundowners before catching the ferry back to Central pier. Rainbow is a popular seafood spot and they even offer a ferry transport back to Central pier, but Fu Kee is the real deal on the side of Yung Shue Wan. If you’re on the other side of the island, Sok Kwu Wan, go to the Lamma Hilton Fishing Village restaurant.
Must-Try Seafood on Lamma Island
Fu Kee Seafood restaurant is a simple, straightforward no frills restaurant on Lamma that does classic Cantonese-style seafood cooked at its peak freshness. Bring your own wines/champagne or order beers with your meal. Fu Kee is run by the second generation and they always recommend to us the best catches to order for the day. Definitely get a steamed fish (usually garouper), the razor clams with glass noodles and copious amounts of garlic, scallops served the same way, salt and pepper calamari, and they also do an excellent sweet and sour pork, the only non-seafood item we get, along with some white rice or fried rice. There’s a black bean crispy noodles clam dish that our friends also like to order.
