Located in Central on Lyndhurst Terrace, this French bistro is the brainchild of Franckelie Laloum, formerly head chef of One Michelin star Louise and Top chef France contestant, and hospitality veteran Michael Larkin. Franckeli is a close friend of ours and is an excellent chef. We come to Lala regularly for our Monday lunch dates as most of the restaurants we like are closed on Mondays in Hong Kong.

We usually order a la carte and always happy to discover specials on the menu. Many come here for the roast chicken “Poulet Jaune”, served with Koshihikari rice – it’s faultless and delicious. But our regular orders are the beef tartare, tenderloin, mussels and their specials. They kindly do a kid size menu for our 5 year old – tomato based pasta and a slow cooked beef cheek. I usually polish off what he can’t finish.

The desserts are crafted by pastry chef Natalie Leung which are are indulgent yet balanced, echoing the restaurant’s ethos of elegance without excess. We can’t resist a Paris-Brest with hazelnut cream, chocolate tarts, and strawberry éclairs.
Lala is a great spot for date night or an evening out with friends or family, great food, a nice wine list and really friendly, welcoming service.
