I visited Chino Hong Kong during their pre-opening and it was great to be back. Chino has a no reservations policy and they only take walk-ins, so get there early. Positioned as a modern Mexican place with Japanese cooking techniques, the food is modern and interesting. Dips are fantastic, appetiser portions small – you’d need to order individually, they are not made for sharing. Service team is young, dynamic and friendly – so it’s always a pleasure dining here.
ox tongue tacos – everyone loved it.
They serve Mexican coca cola here – made with cane sugar, and one of the things that keeps my friends coming back.
Yes to crispy fried pork lard.
There were a few hit and misses, but I really enjoyed the uni scallops and beef, pork belly tacos I ordered. The lobster dish with lots of peppers and some weird cream sauce was…the least favourite.
Chorizo rice, tad too oily but otherwise delish
pork belly and octopus on a bed of black beans
