La Maison Nordique is a lovely pitstop for lunch or place to shop for luxe groceries – caviar, salmon cured in various ways. We love the beetroot one and the Shadi caviar farmed in China is amazing. A great spot to pick up gifts for your gourmand friends as well. Their caviar is the choice of Mr Robuchon – as their in store lightbox marketing exhibits.
Well, if it’s good enough for Mr Robuchon, it’s definitely good enough for me.
Apart from simple French fare, burgers and salads, there are Asian inspired dishes too – and for me going two weeks on cheese, bread, butter and cream is usually my limit before I start craving rice and noodles.
I understand the risk of ordering Asian food in Europe, and was pleasantly surprised. They were perfectly executed – this scampi coconut (tom ka scampi) tasted authentic and more flavourful with French execution.
The spicy crab spaghetti was exactly what I needed for my Asian fix – although they could have upped the spice quotient.
I definitely recommend coming here if you’re looking for a nice spot for a great lunch and if you’d like a caviar tasting. It’s luxe gourmand food without breaking the bank.
When you’re done with lunch, and need some souvenirs? Head over to Mariage fères and pick up some tea for gifts and stroll along to hit the 1st arrondissement for more window shopping.
*disclaimer, Mr chef does order a few items, including caviar from here. The quality, objectively is indisputable.
