Nordic Gastronomy: Geranium Copenhagen 3 * Michelin Raises The Bar

I am a creature of habit and one of those people eating the same favourite dish at restaurants that I frequent regularly, and usually in the same seat. Geranium in Copenhagen was one of the chef’s husband’s favourite experience the first time he was there and I was thrilled to get a reservation on my Nordic gastronomic adventure with a girlfriend.

Venturing out of my comfort zone takes a fair bit of effort and this January, one of my best friends planned her birthday trip to hit several of the leading restaurants in Copenhagen and Sweden and I tagged along to try out Scandinavian gastronomy.

Faviken turned out to be my favourite dining experience. Sadly, they’re closing at the end of the year and I’m so grateful for the experience and friends that push me out of my comfort zone. It’s also an exercise to being more open and saying yes even when the easier answer is no.

Gernanium was my next favourite, but something in the fermented juice or pickles I ate made me bloat. I think my stomach wasn’t used to the extensive natural probiotics and I had that issue several times. It’s a beautiful restuarant located in a football stadium and the kitchen offers views of the stadium.

Best to leave you with images of what I ate – everything was perfectly executed. I can understand why my husband loved Gernanium as the food has a French touch, and chef Rasmus is a multiple Bocuse D’Or Gold award winner.

He still goes on and on about the triompe l’oeil razor clams where you eat the entire crispy shell. It is pretty neat! Our dinner for two set us back about 300euros each including drinks.
