We spent NYE with our newborn just over 100 days old at Peninsula Hotel Hong Kong for a long overdue family staycation since we can’t take a vacation. We got upgraded to a beautiful suite with harbour views, a faux fireplace with Christmas decorations (toy soldiers and all) and a tippee tent with trippy night lights – lots of fun to be had for toddlers and young children, but my newborn was equally fascinated with the colours, lights and a new experience in the time of Covid!

Baby G’s first hotel stay and I completely forgot to bring the Peninsula bear mascot home with us! The hotel team organised dinner from Gaddis with in-room service so we could dine together whilst the baby slept and we had the full suite of kid-friendly amenities – plush toy bear, a cot, bath amenities, tippee tent and turndown cookies!

baby’s first staycation

First time sleeping in another room, on another bed!

Whilst my newborn couldn’t enjoy all the plush toys and tippee tent, he had a fantastic immersive sensory experience with the light projector. Not quite the Aurora Boralis, But I’m sure equally exciting and new for a 3 month old.

The future is bright and looking towards a better more sane 2021!

Staycation has been the way to go for Covid babies born in 2020 since there’s no travel in sight with the uncertainty of when lockdowns would end and when would the endless changing rules of quarantine end, whilst separating young children from their parents.
