It was our first time staying at Andaz Singapore and we got upgraded to a city view King – which was a real treat as the National Day Parade rehearsals were going on and we were able to see bursts of fireworks in the evening. We’re Globalist status on their loyalty programme, so we got really good rates and wonder why we would even stay anywhere else after this experience!
We spent every day at the infinity pool with views of the Singapore flyer, at peak hours (usually the morning) it’s filled with young children. It’s definitely a family friendly hotel given the number of children of similar age or younger we encountered.
I didn’t get photos of the room because kiddo in all his excitement had already left a trial of his toys, books and clothes. Designed by Andre Fu – best known for his beautiful work on The Upper House that I was very fortunate to stay in many times over the years I worked with Swire Hotels.
Andaz Singapore is located in the DUO building that looks “like a honeycomb” from the outside linked to offices and malls in a mixed use space, but the hotel interiors are warm, well-coming and designed with plenty of wood. Inspired by the neighbourhoods of Kampong Glam and Bras Brasah near Bugis, the bathroom doors are reminiscent of old wooden shophouse doors.
The Hyatt app allows one to digitally check in and get a keycard on the phone, but the cute little digital letter boxes are the keycard contact point and the exterior of the rooms are designed to look like little houses in a kampong.
exceptional food: Andaz Singapore all day dining
My family is still raving about the quality of the food they do here. Given the volume they have to produce for all the hotel guests during breakfast and lunch buffet, I was really impressed by the variety and the quality of the food. We spent a week at the hotel and had daily breakfast and a family brunch. The otak otak, laksa and local specialties were all delicious, pizzas and pasta for room service and at lunch were also fantastic for that price point and mass production.
