It’s been a year since I last visited Restaurant Allen when I took my first child-free trip to see a really close friend in Seoul. She went with a non-alcoholic pairing and I had a glass of wine to not be excessive.
Chef Allen Suh previously worked at Eleven Madison Park in New York and L’Impression in Seoul and his two Michelin-starred eponymous restaurant celebrates Korean seasonal ingredients elevated by French cooking techniques.
Best of korean seasonal produce

Restaurant Allen is a two-Michelin-star eponymous restaurant of chef Allen Suh and came highly recommended by my chef husband, so he booked us a table to try. The menu was a beautiful discovery of Korean produce, along with the map of where the products had been sourced, executed with modern European cooking techniques.
The way mugwort was served was fascinating, a very humble Korean ingredient and medicinal herb often used in Chinese Traditional Medicine, it is excellent for our health.

Travelling around Seoul is a mission – you’re either stuck in traffic and struggling with communication with the taxi driver because of language, or you can navigate the very efficient subway system across town, but that takes at least an hour and bear in mind to include peak hour traffic to arrive at the restaurant on time!
If you’re looking for ideas for fine dining restaurants in Seoul, definitely get your reservations in for Restaurant Allen!
