The Reignwood Club is housed in the new Fairmount hotel and its restaurants cater to both club members and the public alike. The 3 (4?) storey club houses a grand theatre in full-on Italian-style and reminded me a little of a miniature La Fenice in Venezia.

The interior of Florence is simple and muted, and its menu sits comfortably between fine Italian cuisine and trattoria-style dining. At the helm of the kitchen is chef Alberto Rastelletti, who takes pleasure in making simple ingredients luxurious, creating the perfect balance in his dishes. Deciding on a sea theme, we started with a titillating salmon bruschetta with tomatoes and fresh apple vinegar, drizzled with herbs and olive oil (¥55). Our cod fish (¥70) rested on a bed of fresh clams and mussels in a shallow pumpkin soup—cooked to a perfect medium rare. The highlights were the duck tortelloni served with red pepper sauce and garlic (¥78) and the red snapper fillet served with thyme and black summer truffle (¥158). To finish, we had the tiramisu with mousse mascarpone cheese (¥48). The tiramisu was dry, but the mousse was delectably smooth. If you’re feeling particularly ravenous, order their eight-course tasting menu (¥498).
