I always enjoyed going to Maison Boulud in Beijing, but I have to say that I enjoyed a really fabulous meal at db bistro Singapore. We were greeted by the hyperactive chef Stephan and given some extra treats, like the white truffles tarte flambé to start. Yum. I have a soft spot for tarte flambé… topped with white truffles. I’m sold.
Next up Gillardeau oysters—need I say more?
Fried goat cheese ravioli for our friend T who doesn’t eat raw stuff.
A lovely beef carpaccio for us.
Spinach pasta with chanterelles and mince veal. Varied textures, flavours and colours, faultlessly al dente and naturally got me excited about what was to come.
Chef presenting the turbot that was served with caviar, white truffles and side of roast vegetables.
Deliciously tender and juicy Kagoshima beef. A simple straightforward dish that allowed the product to shine.
Dessert came in the form of a luscious layer of caramel with chocolate and a side of ice cream. I could easily have had extra helpings of this despite the huge meal. YUM
Great ambience, great acoustics, service friendly and impeccable—everything was tastefully well done. I’m definitely coming back the next time I go home! Merci beaucoup P & T who invited chef and I to dinner there.
