Ah Yat Harbour View Restaurant is definitely one of the under rated Chinese restaurants in Hong Kong. Great dimsum, the perfect roast suckling pig and one of my favourite fish soups that reminded me of Singapore’s fish head bee hoon – with the evaporated milk added to thicken and flavour the soup, but there was no need for that in this broth.
The fish slices are cooked a perfect medium rare as the boiling soup is slowly ladled over the fish slices to lightly blanche it.
As usual, we had a little too much to drink. Here’s the damage of the day. I don’t remember how much was corkage, but food came up to about 300-400HKD each. We didn’t order the high end abalone, sharks fin (no!) or sea cucumber dishes that sit at the top of the delicacy menu.
